G'day, ,

I feel like I just dropped into your inbox.

Oh, that's right, I did. I let you know Loving Summer was free to celebrate Oliver and Kate's fifth birthday.

Well, Loving Summer made it to number 15 in the Aussie store and 22 in the US store for FREE books featuring millionaires and billionaires. It was more than I could have hoped for. So, if you downloaded one of the 549 copies or shared it with friends, thank you so much for your support.

Our eldest son started a new job on a mine site in the mid-west of Western Australia. He'll be 8 days away and 6 days home (fly in/fly out or FiFo), and today was his first flight out. He's 24, and he still doesn't realize that he takes my heart with him whenever he goes somewhere. There was a lot of eye-rolling as I checked with him that he had everything he needed. I'm going to miss him terribly, but this is such a fantastic opportunity for him, and I'm so proud of him for embarking on this new adventure.

I was 21 when I started my first teaching job near the tri-state border of Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and South Australia. I asked my stepdad how he and Mum felt when I left home on that adventure. He shrugged and said, "we had confidence in your abilities to adapt to any situation". It made me stop to consider that maybe I don't give my boys enough credit. When they were young, I was determined to raise independent men (which they are), but as adults, it's so hard to let them go.

Parenting's a tough gig.

I spent a lot of time during February editing Loving Summer, updating my catalogue, and re-uploading titles to Amazon. It's a long and tedious process, and I still have a few books to go, but most of the heavy lifting is done.

I've also made these stunning full-colour special editions of my titles that I'm thrilled with for an event I'm attending in Perth in May. It's been a labour of love, but I think they're so pretty. In case you didn't know, I make all of my own covers and interiors, and this time I've tried my hand at making the beautiful edge designs too.

If I can work out how, I may sell them direct from my website at some point in the future.

I have added just over 4500 words to Nix and Abbi's story. It's such a tricky topic to deal with because I don't want to use sex to solve their marital problems. I want to go deeper (I'm sure that doesn't come as a surprise to you ... hahaha!). So Everlasting Vows is currently sitting at almost 76000 words, and I hope to add a significant amount to that over the coming month.

I had an up and down reading month. I didn't finish three books that I picked up. I find that it's happening more and more. Either I'm not in the mood, or I just can't get into it. One of the books is one I've seen talked about a LOT. It's not my usual choice, but hey, I figured it was really popular, so it must be fantastic. And it wasn't not fantastic, it just wasn't for me.

The first book I finished in February was Hot for Hostage, and it had me giggling and kicking my feet. It wasn't overly spicy, but you know what, I didn't even really notice. It was so much fun, and even though he is a mafia prince, he was such a cinnamon roll in a lot of ways. I can't really class him as a proper cinnamon roll, because ... you know ... he unalives people and all, but he was so sweet to her.

The Exception by Vi Keeland was amazing, as usual. I can always count on her to write a great book (and isn't that what it's all about—trusting that an author will always deliver.) He's a billionaire and almost hooks up with his intern, who is also the stepdaughter of one of his executives, before she starts working at his company. She's a virgin (sort of) and he doesn't sleep with his interns ... but there's always the exception.

Waking Olivia and Drowning Erin by Elizabeth O'Roark follow brothers as they each fall in love. Both deal with tropes that I'm not normally a fan of, but I loved every word from start to finish and couldn't put them down because they were so engaging—very angsty. I will definitely seek out more of her work (if I remember, ha!).

I picked the Third Life up on a recommendation from another author that I've developed a friendship with through my Cinnamon Roll Book Boyfriend group. Richard was a grey (and not because of his age) cinnamon roll, but I picked this up for the 'grovel' and 'redemption' that he had to do in order to win Gillian back after he messed up. The love story had mature characters who dealt with their situation in a pragmatic and mature manner. It lacked a little ... oomph for me, but it was an okay read.

I'm just getting stuck into The Air He Breathes (both the Hero and heroine have lost their partners and he's also lost his son). You know I'm always interested in reading romance books that deal with grief.

Overall, a decent month in books. I hope you had a great month!
