Day Crafting: A Hello and where I’ve been
Aug 25, 2026 10:14 am
Hi
It's been a while since I've sent anything to the Day Crafting list, so I thought I should say hello (and hello if you’re new here) – and explain where I've been. Day Crafting has been on a quieter setting for a while because I’ve been giving my attention, time and energy mainly to something else.
That something is Spiritual Direction UK, an idea I've wanted to bring to life for a very long time.
(If you din’t know ... spiritual direction is practice for exploring the spiritual dimension of your life with someone trained to listen, notice and ask useful questions.)
For me, there's a fairly obvious overlap with Day Crafting. Quite a few Day Crafting conversations have eventually wandered into questions of meaning, purpose, spirituality and Connection. And, looking from the other direction, I often find myself thinking that someone exploring their spiritual life could make good use of some Day Crafting. The borders have always been rather porous.
So although this newsletter has been quiet, I haven't disappeared. If you're curious, have a look around Spiritual Direction UK.
There are a few things happening which may be of interesting to Day Crafting practitioners:
The Reset - a free monthly online gathering for stopping, noticing and taking stock.
VIA Strengths for Spiritual Practice - a four-session course starting in September, using the character strengths framework that will be very familiar to Day Crafting practitioners.
Group Spiritual Direction - something new we're beginning: a small group meeting regularly to explore what is happening in their spiritual lives together.
And, of course, one-to-one spiritual direction which, if you do it with me, can include the Day Crafting framework.
We also have a newsletter called The Companion, where we share ideas, practices and upcoming gatherings. If there's enough overlap with your interests, you'd be very welcome to join us there. You can unsubscribe easily ;-/
There's no grand announcement here, but there's enough common ground that I thought some of you would genuinely want to know about it. And if it's not your thing, that's perfectly fine too. I mainly wanted to emerge from the shrubbery and say hello.
Love and blessings.
Bruce
