Hi there, Dear Readers:

Each month in 2024 I've been featuring a different clean romance author which I'll continue through October. This month I'm introducing Ruth Pendleton as the fabulous Featured Author in September. Read on to learn more about her, her books, and the free book goodie you can get this month:

A little about Ruth:

Hi. I'm Ruth. I'm an avid reader and an enthusiastic writer. I've been writing romance stories since I was in junior high. In one of my favorite pieces, I wrote an endearing story about best friends who got married in a double wedding. They went on their honeymoons together and lived next to each other for years to come. It makes me laugh every time I read it. Although my writing style has changed quite a lot over the years, I've never given up on the allure of a happily ever after. That is why I love to write sweet romance novels.

I don't live on a ranch, but sometimes I feel like my house could be one. I have two dogs, a cat, six chickens, and two starlings currently living at my house. I also have a sizable amount of children that come and go, devouring food and leaving laughter in their wake. When I am not writing, I enjoy quilting, watercolor painting, and acting.

Here's the FREE book goodie that Ruth is gifting you this week. We hope you enjoy it!

A handsome widower.

A woman who doesn’t trust second chances.

What will it take to open their hearts to love?

I asked Ruth about her writing inspiration so we could get to know her a little better. Here's what she shared:

What does your writing space look like?

I'm an empty nester, so I have my own office. I have a twelve foot section of whiteboards that I do my brainstorming on. One of my favorite features in the office is a bookshelf that holds the books I've written. I get so excited every time I get to add a new book to the shelf.

What's the inspiration behind your latest series?

I come from a large family, so the decision to write the Elk Mountain series was an easy one. As I've been writing it, I've come to realize just how personal this series is to me. The youngest daughter in the book is inspired, in part, by my best friend's daughter. We lost her at the young age of seventeen. As the character Bree grows up through the series, we get to imagine what kind of a life we would have wanted for our sweet girl. It has been cathartic to watch these characters grow.

How long have you been a writer?

I've been writing for as long as I can remember. My mom instilled a great love of reading in me, and my dad is a natural storyteller. Between the two of them, I think being an author was bound to happen.

What do you love to read, and what book are you reading at the moment?

That is a hard question, because my TBR pile keeps growing! I like to read most genres so I tend to cycle through them. I'm currently reading The Love List by Elana Johnson while I wait for a copy of The Women by Kristin Hannah to become available.
