Can you smell Fall?
I can.
Nighttime campfires. Pumpkin and cinnamon-spiced coffee drinks. Grilled hotdogs and popcorn smells from the football game concession stands. Garden beds beginning to die off or settle in for a winter's sleep. These things are scenting the air in central Illinois at the moment.
While I crave the incoming cool weather, I've grown to love certain aspects of summer, too. I'll miss running outside without a coat, the explosion of colors from my zinnias, and grilling on the deck. The last few books I've written have all been "summer" books. And I've noticed that the true season rarely aligns with my fictional season as I'm writing, but not by design. THAT CAFE AU LAIT KIND OF LOVE (coming 10/10) is the first book that's even close to being set at the same time that I'd actually written it. I'm blaming it on a scramble of missed deadlines because life threw in some punches these last few months.
I've already started on Book #3 in the Port Chance series. I'll do a cover reveal sometime soon when I get a better idea of its release date. It'll definitely be in 2025, possibly February.

I've been doing so well with organizing my TBR pile as we move into prime reading-in-my-favorite-cozy-spot season. However, I wandered into the sweetest used bookstore in Marquette, Michigan (Snowbound Books) last month and I couldn't resist some of the titles at great prices. Right now, I'm reading Mother-Daughter Murder Night, a mystery. I'm only a few chapters in so the jury is still out about whether I'd recommend.
