In the last week, my poor rain gauge has reported over seven inches! At one point on Saturday I was afraid the water collecting around the yard would turn into a moat. Luckily, our first floor is almost five feet above the ground so there's never a chance that water can get into the house. The basement is a different story. I was amazed our sump pump was able to keep up. Throw in a few tornado warnings that had me scrambling to the basement too and you can see why I'm praying for sunny skies again. Towns south of us didn't fare so well though since there was much flooding, including Home Sweet Home Ministries in Bloomington, IL, my chosen non-profit for the Sweet Romance for a Sweet Cause promotion (see below). While the living areas avoided damage, their basement which houses storage areas and electrical equipment suffered with 30+ inches of water.
Today is the last day (6/30) to shop for the designated books in the Sweet Romance for a Sweet Cause event. The participating authors have agreed to donate all their profits from their chosen book to a non-profit near and dear to their hearts. Mine is the Home Sweet Home Ministries in Bloomington, IL. My husband and I have supported them for years because they do wonderful things for those in need in central Illinois. There are over 20 wonderful titles to choose from here.
