Has this been the week of storms or what? I hope you and your families weren't affected by them.
Last Friday was supposed to be a big storm day in Central Illinois. Businesses closed early, people stocked their refrigerators, and I put together my tornado kit for the first time this season. And while the sky turned an ominous gray-green and the county siren blared on my phone, our town barely registered a sprinkle. Not so for Little Rock that day or others towns all over the midwest and south. My heart goes out to those whose families suffered. We had more storms earlier this week. Our power went out for a few hours and it poured buckets but again, we were lucky.
In case you missed the last newsletter and wonder what all those cardboard flamingo parts are below, here's the short of it: Grandgirl #1 and I are making an animal sculpture out of recyclable materials for our local zoo's contest. It's been a long, messy process but we're nearing the end!
In writing news, I'm working on a 10 Midwestern Small Towns I Love list in between the revisions for Love, Lies and Literature. It will be something else I'll give away to new subscribers when they sign up for the newsletter. You can bet I'll share the link here though when I finish. So many of these towns have inspired my writing throughout the years.
Don't miss the special books deals below, especially the new Friday Feature, Free Book(s) Friday!
