We all need a "Yes Day" every now and then.
My husband and I took the two oldest grand girls to the circus over the weekend. The university where he teaches hosts the oldest student-run circus in the country. Lots of acrobatics, clown acts, and high-wire tricks. The girls loved it.
Prior to going, our middle grand girl asked if she could have cotton candy.
"Yes," my husband answered.
"Can we have popcorn, too?" the oldest one countered.
"Of course," I said.
"It's going to be a Yes Day for whatever you want at the circus," my husband said.
HA!
As soon as we arrived, the avalanche of requests started, followed by affirmatives from my husband and me. Corndogs, Dippin' Dots, Lemon Shake-Ups. Cotton Candy and popcorn. Light sticks! T-Shirts! Face Painting! And there were carnival booths set up an hour before the circus started, so there were games with candy for prizes! Balloon animals!
Yes, yes, YES!
The questions finally stopped after forty-five minutes into the two-hour circus. After all, the girls were now surrounded by empty food containers and plastic wrappers. Food comas were setting in. The normally restless three-year-old was unusually quiet throughout the show, too full to move.
Everyone needs a "Yes Day" once in a while.
