A non-writing project has been looming in the dark corners of my brain for months now. It glowers at me whenever I go upstairs but I'm pretty skilled at ignoring things I don't want to do, and so far I've successfully ignored it.
Last year, I peeled the wallpaper and painted one of the bedrooms. In my excitement for finishing the job in speedy (for me) fashion, I immediately pulled off wallpaper in another bedroom, thinking why not? I was on a roll! The momentum I felt was palpable.
Then that momentum tanked like a cement block in a swimming pool. I didn't want to start another room. Then summer came and I didn't want to work in the humidity. Then a fall full of traveling happened. The holidays of course = not a good time for home improvement projects. My talent for ignoring the wallpaperless room is outshone by my talent for coming up with excuses.
Buuut...the moment has arrived I think. I'm not on a hard book deadline anymore. The paint supplies are moving upstairs. Maybe today I'll haul up the ladder and cover the furniture with plastic. I feel ambition returning. Either that or it's the new dark roast blend I tried this morning and the second cup has just now kicked in. I'll keep you posted.
