It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like a Book-Filled Season

While I haven't yet joined the pre-Thanksgiving-decorating-for-Christmas squad, I've been busy thinking about it. That counts, right?

While I haven't yet joined the pre-Thanksgiving-decorating-for-Christmas squad, I've been busy thinking about it. That counts, right?

In all seriousness, it's been a busy week here. Our youngest son drove home from Texas two days ago. He'll be with us through Thanksgiving. I've been furiously painting a bedroom, hoping to have it finished by next week when the grand girls are due to spent the night, but I've realized it's not going to happen. Then there's the book signing at the local coffee shop on Saturday that I'm pulling things together for (it's at Crossroads Cafe in Chenoa, IL if you're close).

Yesterday I talked to a junior high book club about The Upside of Down, one of two middle grades I published before I started writing romance. Their desks were arranged in a circle when I arrived, with a special rocking chair as the place of honor for me. While they snacked on pretzels and crackers, Mrs. Wunsch's kids took turns asking questions about the book and my writing process. They asked so many great questions that I couldn't help but think there might be some future authors in the room. Before I left, they wanted their bookmarks signed and photos with me. "I feel like a celebrity," I said, after which the teacher promptly answered, "But you are!"

It's hard to believe LOVE, LIES and SLEIGH RIDES has been out almost a month! Someone left the cutest review last week along with an adorable reel on Instagram. Here's part of what she wrote:

"Snowstorms, gingerbread house decorating, hot chocolate, a small town Holly Days festival, a glamorous dress up event in a Christmas lodge, and a quiet reformed bad boy turned Mr. Chivalry. These two leads both have their struggles, and it takes a while for the walls to come down, but I loved watching that journey."

Good reviews can turn a good day into a great one. I'm so happy Fallon and Kade's story touched her. Oh, and by the way, I'm in the middle of writing a bonus scene for a fun Advent-themed event (see below).

In the meantime, if you have yet to dive into Love, Lies and Sleigh Rides, there's no better time to start reading!

I'm participating in romance author Kathleen Ryder's Email Advent Calendar this year. My contribution will be a bonus scene for LOVE, LIES and SLEIGH RIDES and a related recipe which I'm working on this week.

Her Advent calendar will consist of 24 daily emails full of Christmas cheer, recipes, anecdotes, personal tidbits, giveaways, and free reads from a range of romance and women’s fiction authors! It's free to join, and you can opt-out at any time. The first e-mail goes out on December 1st.

The used book sale I went to last Friday was fabulous! I picked up 16 hard and soft cover books for $13, most in excellent condition. I'll have some of them available in the December Clean My Shelves *Expanded Holiday Edition* next month so stay tuned!

Romance with sweet sizzle, characters who grow together and with God, emotions that reach to the deepest depths, and the town where it all happens.

"This is a great series. Each book became my new favorite, but The Fault in Firelight was exceptionally written. These are full of deep storylines, emotions, tears and joy." - Amazon review

His billions won't buy her forgiveness, let alone her love.

"This book was SO MUCH FUN to read. Jewel Allen is always so amazing at her romance, and then add in the terrifying adventure of search and rescue, and this book had me hooked." - Amazon review
