Our son texted me the other night. Do you have mechanical breakdown insurance on your cars? he asked. I probed for more details, and after he read the paragraph on his policy, it was clear they'd duped him into paying $450 more over the last six months than was necessary. He cancelled it within minutes, but it left him feeling a little sick.
I think it's safe to say we're all feeling a financial crunch these days. It's especially frustrating when we learn we're paying for something we didn't ask for. Last week, I noticed a $5 surcharge on my newspaper bill (yes, I love my print newspaper. It's the journalist in me). I called and was told it's for mailing me the bill. A $5 surcharge for a letter! Oi!
