A few days ago our son flew home from Argentina where he'd been for the last three weeks helping our other son get a feel for the regional geology for his graduate studies. What a relief to get one of them home; we'll have to wait another two weeks before Josh is able to fly out since he still has work to do. We're happy that he loves the project he's chosen down there, but sad that he was so far away for the holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas). It was the first Christmas that he didn't get to come home and the first one he didn't celebrate in a traditional way. He's working with one Argentine collaborator at the moment, camping in a remote area and eating dehydrated food. Powdered turkey and mashed potatoes had to suffice this year.
We had a busy, festive two days starting with dinner and present opening with the grand girls, our daughter and oldest son, and son-in-law. Then it was onto church for a candlelight service on Christmas Eve. The next day we celebrated with my sister and her family, and our parents. It was a full-house, big-meal, flurry-of-wrapping-paper-type of party with sixteen of us together. I was in bed by 9 o'clock, happy but completely worn out from the day!
Now, onto book news. Three Hearts in Hendricks books are on sale this week. Love Like Water is FREE until Thursday, and the second two books have also been marked down to $0.99 through Jan 2nd. If you have yet to read this series, or maybe you haven't made it through all of the books, now is the time to grab them. You'll find familiar faces and people in these books that you've enjoyed in the Blueberry Point books: Darcy and Sean Stetman, feisty matchmaker Donna Marconi, Debi Thomas from Debby's Donuts, and more. This is the time of year I like to reflect on where my author journey has led me, what has worked, and the things I need to change. Input from readers like you help me decide what areas I should focus on going forward. If you have time to answer this survey, I'd be forever grateful. In fact, I'm sweetening the deal with an added incentive. If you fill out the survey by this Thursday night (12/30) at 11:59 p.m. (CST), you'll be in a drawing for a $10 Amazon gift card. Your entry is recorded as soon as you complete the survey. Only one entry per person, please, otherwise the survey results won't be accurate. The winner will be contacted by e-mail on Friday, 12/31, and announced in the next newsletter. Here's the link to the Google form: https://forms.gle/Ps1hcR8YSAu7dow98

I'm back to reading more now that I'm not spending so much time in cooking and baking. A Cross Country Christmas by Courtney Walsh came in the mail last week so I put the book down I'd been reading and dove into that one. All of the great reviews I'd heard about it stood up to the test. The prologue grabbed me and I can't put it down. Such a cute, funny story so far.
I'm sharing two other books below. I hope you find something you like.
See you in the New Year!
~ Dawn
