Law 1 for 2026: Focus on yourself
Dec 15, 2025 7:01 am
Good morning, .
We have 17 days left to the end of the year.
That also means this 60-day series ends in 17 days.
From today, I want to use these final days to share 17 laws, or principles, that I believe can help anyone thrive in 2026 and beyond. These are not theories. They are things I’ve seen work in real life, across different seasons and different people.
Today, I want to start with the first one. And it is a very important one.
Focus on yourself.
I know this can sound selfish at first, but stay with me.
A lot of people are living their lives based on reactions. What people will say. What people will think. How people will feel. Every move becomes a response to external opinions. And when you live like that, you never really build anything solid.
I have said this before, and I still stand by it: sometimes, the most selfless thing you can do is to be selfish.
If your desire is to contribute meaningfully to society, to your family, to your generation, there will be a season where your primary assignment is you. Your growth. Your development. Your discipline. Your clarity.
You cannot help people effectively if you are still on the ground yourself.
That is the truth.
If you are struggling to stand, you will need help before you can help others stand. Yet what we see often is people who are still figuring themselves out trying to carry everyone else. You are tired, confused, underdeveloped, but you are trying to save the world.
That approach does not last.
Focusing on yourself does not mean you are wicked. It means you are being wise.
It means you are investing in your capacity so that when the time comes to give, you actually have something to give. Strength. Insight. Resources. Stability.
And yes, when you do this, not everybody will like it.
Not everybody will understand your choices.
Not everybody will agree with your priorities.
Some people will be uncomfortable with your focus.
That is fine.
You cannot outsource your journey to public opinion. You have to take responsibility for your own progress.
Especially if you are young, this matters even more. There will come a season when responsibilities multiply and time becomes scarce. A season when focusing only on yourself will no longer be an option. That is why now matters.
Focus on your growth.
Focus on your habits.
Focus on your direction.
Focus on becoming better.
This is not about isolation. It is about intention.
This is Law 1.
And over the next 16 days, we will talk about the others.
Let’s end this year with clarity, not noise.
Your Fave,
Darasimi
