Your future is shaped by how far you think

Hey ,
One of the strongest lessons I’ve learned in Life didn’t come from a book. It came from learning how to play chess.
When you play chess, you can’t just think about the move you are making in the moment. The moment you touch a piece, you are already thinking about what your opponent is likely to do next… and then your response to that… and even the move after that.
You are constantly thinking two, three, four steps ahead.
And here's something I have noticed in our generation.
We are very aware of the present. We know what is trending. We know what is happening around us. We know who is doing what, who is winning, who is losing. But the problem is, we don’t think far enough ahead.
We don’t intentionally plan the next step.
Life feels so spontaneous to a lot of people. One day just flows into another, and before you know it, a whole month is gone. A whole year is gone. And then we start asking, “Where did time go?”
The truth is: time didn’t go anywhere. We just didn’t tell it where to go.
Planning ahead does not mean everything will go perfectly. I know life is unpredictable. I know things change. I know emergencies come up. I know God can interrupt your plans. But a life without structure is a life that is easy to waste.
Even simple things require foresight.
What do you plan to eat later today?
What are the three most important things you want to get done this week?
What skill do you want to improve before the end of this month?
Where do you want to be by the end of this year?
It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be intentional.
Some people wait until night before they start thinking, “What will I eat?” Some wait until the end of the week before they ask, “What did I even do this week?” Some wait until December before they remember, “I had goals for this year.”
That is not how progress is built.
When you plan your day, you become more focused.
When you plan your week, you become more productive.
When you plan your month, you become more disciplined.
When you plan your year, you become more deliberate.
You stop living by impulse and start living by direction.
And here is something important:
Planning does not mean forcing life to follow your script. It simply means giving yourself a map.
Even if you don’t follow it perfectly, you still move with more sense than someone who is wandering.
Most people don’t fail because they are not capable. They fail because they wake up every day without a clear sense of direction. They let circumstances, emotions, and distractions lead them.
Chess taught me that every move matters. And every move should be intentional.
So my question to you today is simple:
How far ahead are you thinking?
Because your tomorrow is not shaped by your wishes. It is shaped by your preparation.
Plan ahead. Your future will thank you.
Your Fave,
Darasimi.
