Hey ,
Over the past two emails, I shared the first two questions I ask before making major decisions.
Question 1: Does this move align with the person I am trying to become?
Question 2: What will this decision cost me?
Today, I want to share the third question.
And this one has saved me from several wrong moves.
Question 3: What do the people I trust think about this?
One of the biggest mistakes people make is deciding in isolation.
Not because they are confident.
But because they do not want to hear anything that challenges their decision.
But the truth is simple:
you have blind spots.
Everyone does.
When you are emotionally involved in a decision, it becomes harder to see clearly. What looks obvious to someone outside may be invisible to you.
That is why wise people seek counsel.
Not because others will decide for them.
But because perspective matters.
There are people in my life whose opinions I deeply respect. When I am making major decisions, I speak to them. I ask questions. I listen to what they see.
Sometimes they confirm what I already feel.
Sometimes they challenge it.
Sometimes they point out something I had not even considered.
But either way, their perspective sharpens my thinking.
This does not mean you crowdsource your life decisions. Not every choice requires consultation.
But major decisions should rarely be made in isolation.
Career moves.
Business partnerships.
Marriage.
Relocation.
Major financial decisions.
These are moments where wisdom matters more than ego.
Choose people who are honest with you.
Choose people who want the best for you.
Choose people who will tell you the truth, not just what you want to hear.
Then listen carefully.
Because sometimes the difference between a wise decision and a painful mistake is simply who you listened to.
And with that, those are the three questions I ask before making big decisions.
- Does this align with who I am becoming?
- What will this decision cost me?
- What do the people I trust think about this?
Simple questions.
But they can save you from many regrets.
Your Fave,
Darasimi
