Hey ,
Last week, we talked about external pressure, the kind the world places on us.
This week, I want to flip it.
Let’s talk about internal pressure, the kind you place on yourself to grow.
Now, I know pressure has gotten a bad reputation in our generation.
We’ve normalized the idea that “what/who go help you, no go stress you.”
And while I agree that external stress can be toxic…
I’ve also learned that avoiding all pressure can be dangerous.
Because truthfully?
There’s no growth in comfort.
Let me tell you a short story.
Two years before I finally moved out of my parents’ house, I took a vacant apartment within the same compound, just to stay alone.
Nobody pushed me.
My parents didn’t complain.
But I knew I needed to start building the muscle of independence.
Few months after, I stopped eating “upstairs.”
Started cooking for myself.
Started buying foodstuffs and managing my own bills.
I didn’t have the full capacity to rent a new place yet…
But I was willing to put myself under pressure.
And guess what?
That small step led to growth.
Within months, I started buying appliances one after the other.
And about a year later, I moved out fully.
That’s just one example.
There were other times I committed to learning a skill just to stretch myself.
Times I made financial decisions that forced me to focus, build, and grow.
That’s the power of internal pressure.
It’s not about being reckless.
It’s about choosing to do hard things now so your future self can thank you later.
So here’s the point:
👉🏽 Don’t run from pressure, run from the wrong pressure.
👉🏽 External pressure often distracts you.
👉🏽 Internal pressure, when applied intentionally, develops you.
I also want to take a moment to say thank you to those who reply to these emails.
I see you. I read them. And I’m working on responding to as many as I can.
It really means a lot.
