Law 2 for 2026: Be careful who you keep close
Dec 16, 2025 7:01 am
Hi ,
This is Law 2 in the 17 laws I want to share for 2026 and beyond.
And I want to say this clearly, calmly, and without insult:
Avoid stupid company.
Let me explain, because I know how this can sound.
This is not about abusing people or acting superior. It is a statement of reality. And often, people mistake statements of fact for insults.
Here is the truth.
It is better to be alone than to be surrounded by people who are pulling you backward.
There is no reward for bad company.
If the people around you constantly feed you wrong ideas, wrong mindsets, and wrong values, they will eventually shape how you think, how you act, and how you decide. Whether you like it or not.
I once saw a quote that said, just because you are thirsty does not mean you should drink poison. That is exactly how this works.
Loneliness is not ideal, yes. But bad company is worse.
People underestimate the power of proximity. The people you spend the most time with quietly influence you. Your language. Your standards. Your beliefs. Your courage. Your discipline.
If you surround yourself with foolish people, even if you were wise before, it is only a matter of time before you start making foolish choices.
On the other hand, if you surround yourself with wise people, even if you were not wise before, you will either grow or be forced to change. And if you refuse to grow, they will eventually distance themselves from you.
That is how it works.
This law is about awareness.
Who do you spend your time with?
Who do you listen to?
Who shapes your thinking?
Who influences your decisions?
Do these people challenge you?
Do they inspire you?
Do they push you toward growth?
Do they help you think better and live better?
I am not saying use people.
I am not saying be a parasite.
I am saying be intentional.
You cannot say you want to grow and then consistently keep company that does not value growth. The two do not align.
As we move into 2026, one of the most practical things you can do for your future is to audit your environment. Especially the people in it.
Your surroundings matter.
Your company matters.
Your associations matter.
Sometimes, the bravest decision is to walk alone for a season rather than stay comfortable in the wrong circle.
See you tomorrow.
Your Fave,
Darasimi
