Hey ,
Here’s something I’ve been thinking about lately,
Even good things can be distractions.
Let me explain.
Distraction isn’t always about wasting time or doing the wrong thing.
Sometimes, distraction looks like taking on another good thing when you haven’t finished the first.
You can be in a season of learning and mastering a skill, and suddenly you feel the urge to start another one.
It looks productive.
It sounds impressive.
But in reality, it’s distraction in disguise.
Distraction isn’t always bad; it’s just something that takes you off your main focus.
Your distraction could be:
- Social media followers when your focus should be creating valuable content.
- A relationship that’s good but not right for this season.
- A job that looks stable but is quietly stifling your growth.
- Even leadership if it comes too early or too heavy.
If we look deeply, a lot of well-intentioned people aren’t lazy… they’re just distracted by good things.
And that’s why many never see full results.
They spread themselves thin.
They start everything but finish nothing.
They confuse motion for progress.
So here’s the principle I’m holding onto:
Starve your distractions and feed your focus.
When possible, starve them completely.
When it’s not possible, learn to manage them because not every distraction can be cut off immediately.
But it can be controlled.
As you step into a new week, ask yourself:
What is distracting me in this season even if it looks good?
What’s taking my time, energy, and attention away from what truly matters right now?
You can do anything, yes.
But not everything, at least not all at once.
Take a few minutes today to write down the top three things that deserve your full focus this season.
Then, intentionally starve the rest.
You’ll be amazed at how much clarity and peace follow.
Your Fave,
Darasimi.
