Hey ,
Happy Sunday,
This is Day 7 in the 17 laws I believe can help anyone thrive in 2026 and beyond.
Law 7 is one many people underestimate, but it quietly shapes the quality of your decisions.
Understand your scale of preference.
Simply put, you need to know what matters most at any given time.
A lot of people struggle not because they lack opportunities, but because they treat everything as equally important. When everything feels urgent, nothing truly gets the attention it deserves.
A scale of preference is the ability to rank your needs and wants clearly and honestly.
And emphasis on needs, not wants.
There is a big difference between what you want and what you need.
Wants are loud.
Needs are strategic.
If you don’t consciously decide what comes first, life will decide for you. And life usually chooses comfort, impulse, or distraction.
For example, you might want a new phone, but you need savings.
You might want to travel, but you need to stabilize your income.
You might want to impress people, but you need peace and focus.
The problem is not wanting things.
The problem is prioritizing wants over needs.
When you have a clear scale of preference, decision-making becomes easier.
You stop feeling confused.
You stop feeling guilty.
You stop being pulled in ten directions at once.
You simply ask yourself one question:
“What do I need right now?”
Not what will make me look good.
Not what everyone else is doing.
Not what feels exciting in the moment.
What do I need now for the life I am building?
This applies to money.
This applies to relationships.
This applies to career.
This applies to time.
This applies to rest.
There are seasons where enjoyment is a priority.
There are seasons where sacrifice is a priority.
There are seasons where building quietly matters more than showing results.
Wisdom is knowing which season you are in and arranging your life accordingly.
Many people are tired because they are spending energy on things that should not be a priority yet.
Many people are broke because they keep funding wants while neglecting needs.
Many people are frustrated because they are chasing everything instead of focusing on the right thing.
A clear scale of preference protects you from that.
As we move closer to the end of the year, I want you to sit down and ask yourself:
What do I truly need right now?
What can wait?
What must take priority in this season of my life?
You don’t need to do everything.
You need to do the right things, in the right order.
That is Law 7.
See you tomorrow.
Your Fave,
Darasimi.
