Hey ,
This is Law 5 in the 17 laws I believe can help anyone thrive in 2026 and beyond.
Discipline over motivation.
Motivation is useful. I won’t deny that. Listening to someone speak well can give you a burst of energy. It can push you to start. It can make you feel inspired for a moment.
But you cannot build your life on motivation.
Why?
Because motivation is a feeling. And feelings are unstable.
Discipline, on the other hand, is structure.
If you wait until you “feel like it” before you act, you will not get much done. You won’t move as far as you want to move. You won’t build anything meaningful that lasts.
Most people say things like:
“I’m not in the mood.”
“I’m not motivated.”
“I’ll do it when I feel ready.”
But the real question is simpler:
Does this thing need to be done?
If it plays a role in your growth, your success, your future, then the answer is yes. And once the answer is yes, how you feel becomes secondary.
Discipline says, “This must be done, regardless.”
Discipline forces you to ask better questions:
What do I want to achieve?
What needs to be done to achieve it?
What structure do I need to put in place?
That is how progress happens.
When you rely on motivation, you move only when something excites you. And when that excitement fades, you stop. But when you rely on discipline, you move because you have decided to move.
That’s the difference.
There is no great person you admire who is always motivated. Every disciplined person has days when they don’t feel like showing up. The difference is that they already put structures in place, and they submit to those structures.
That is why structure matters.
Structure looks like:
On this day, I do this.
At this time, I work on this.
This day is dedicated to this task.
No negotiation.
When there is structure, your feelings don’t get to vote.
Many of us are just living day to day, reacting to how we feel. There is no system. No rhythm. No framework. And without structure, discipline cannot exist.
If you want tangible results, you must build discipline into your daily life.
Not next year.
Not someday.
Now.
Motivation can help you start.
Discipline is what will help you finish.
This is Law 5.
See you tomorrow.
Your Fave,
Darasimi
