Hey ,
One of the dangerous things about the age we live in is that popularity is now treated as truth.
If many people agree with something, society automatically assumes it is right. If something trends long enough, people begin to treat it as wisdom. If enough people repeat a thing, it starts sounding like truth even when it is completely wrong.
But popularity has never been the true measure of truth.
There are many things people celebrate today that are destroying lives quietly. There are mindsets that have become normal in society that are unhealthy. There are behaviors people now defend simply because “everybody is doing it.”
But if everybody is walking in the wrong direction, it does not suddenly make the direction right.
This is why you must have values.
You must know what you believe.
You must know what you stand for.
Because if you do not have convictions, society will hand you its own convictions. If you do not intentionally decide your standards, the world will decide them for you.
If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.
A lot of people are easily moved because they have no foundation. Today they believe one thing because social media said it. Tomorrow they believe another thing because culture changed again. Their lives are controlled by trends, opinions, and applause.
That is dangerous.
You must be able to pause and ask yourself:
“Do I actually believe this thing?”
“Does this align with my values?”
“Is this truly right or is it just popular?”
There are times where standing for truth will make you look different. There are moments where doing the right thing will not be applauded. There are seasons where people may misunderstand your convictions. But you must learn not to abandon what is right simply because it is unpopular.
One thing I have learned is this: crowds are not always correct.
People can celebrate destructive behavior. People can defend wrong things passionately. History has shown us this repeatedly.
This is why discernment matters.
This is why deep thinking matters.
This is why you must not allow the internet, trends, celebrities, influencers, or even friends become the final authority over your life.
Think for yourself.
Study.
Learn.
Question things.
Build convictions.
Stand for something meaningful.
As you continue through this year, do not let popularity become your compass. Let wisdom, values, truth, and conviction guide your decisions.
Because at the end of the day, something does not become true simply because many people believe it.
Your Fave,
Darasimi
