The Spotify Health Test: Why Basic Assessments Aren't Enough.
Sep 29, 2025 7:31 am
Ever had one of those family gatherings where an unexpected conversation sparks a whole train of thought? Well, that's exactly what happened to me this weekend.
We were celebrating my partner's mum's birthday - you know, the usual mix of cake, presents, and catching up with relatives.
But amidst all the festivities, my sister's husband dropped an interesting tidbit into the conversation.
He'd recently undergone a new style of health assessment, one created by none other than the founder of Spotify. Intriguing, right?
Now, I'm always curious about new health trends, so naturally, I peppered him with questions. What did this assessment involve? What kind of results did he get? Was it really as groundbreaking as it sounded?
Turns out, it included body scans and bloodwork - pretty standard stuff, you might think. And you'd be right. I was surprised to learn that the tests were actually quite basic.
We're talking cholesterol, haemoglobin, the usual suspects.
But there was no analysis of vitamin or mineral levels, no measurement of muscle mass or body fat percentage.
Now, these tests can still be helpful, especially if you've never had a health check before.
But it got me thinking - is this really enough? Are these surface-level assessments truly the key to transforming our health?
The more I mulled it over, the clearer it became.
These tests, while potentially eye-opening, are just the starting line.
They're a snapshot, a moment in time.
But health isn't static, is it?
It's a journey, a constant process of making choices and forming habits.
So here is something I've seen time and time again in my work with cyclists and athletes.
Health assessments can be useful starting points, but the real challenge is in making consistent lifestyle changes afterwards.
The tests alone won't transform your health. It's the support, structure, and sustainable habits that make a lasting difference.
We've all been there - starting a new diet or exercise routine, only to fall off the wagon a few weeks later.
It's not because you lack willpower or dedication. It's because sustainable change requires more than just knowing your numbers.
It requires guidance, accountability, and a system that works with your lifestyle, not against it.
That's why I'm so passionate about what we do in the Cycle Lean Collective and my 1:1 coaching.
We don't just give you a set of numbers and send you on your way. We provide the ongoing support, the structured approach, and the tailored strategies that turn those initial insights into real, lasting change.
So, if you're tired of quick fixes and surface-level solutions, if you want more than just numbers on a page, and instead want real guidance, support, and long-term results, then it might be time to take the next step.
We are here to help you transform those health insights into a lifestyle that truly serves you.
