Embrace the Journey

Hey ,

My partner and I have this ritual. Every weekend, we like to put our feet up, forget about the world for a while, and unwind in front of the TV.

Sounds like your typical weekend, right? Except for one thing. We're very picky about what we watch. We look for shows that inspire us, uplift us, and remind us of the beauty of life beyond the hustle and bustle of our daily grind.

There's much negativity out there, so we dig deep to find the gems that make us feel good. And oh boy, did we find a gem recently.

We stumbled across this show called "Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild," where Ben Fogle, the host, traverses the globe to meet people who've left the city and embraced a slower pace of life.

One particular episode had us glued to the screen. It was about this ex-musician who traded his life on the road with his country band for a tranquil existence in the woods of Ozark, USA. This guy teaches others about living off the land, about patience, and about the beauty of a slower life.

In one scene, the musician was teaching Ben how to make a fishing line from some old rope. Ben struggled with it, trying to rush through the process, but the musician simply smiled and said, "What's the rush? It takes patience and time to get things right."

It was a lightbulb moment for me.

In our fast-paced lives, we're always looking for quick fixes. We want to lose weight rapidly, only to end up gaining it back just as quickly. If our results don't come fast enough, we get disheartened and give up.

But there's a flip side to this coin.

The shorter the time frame, the fewer lessons we learn. In contrast, slow, sustainable habits can last us a lifetime. The journey itself educates us and supports our health in the long run. And the knowledge and skills we gain? We get to pass them on to others.

So, what's the rush?

If you're on a journey to become a healthier, stronger cyclist, remember this: It's not about getting there quickly, it's about enjoying the process and learning along the way.
