A Hotel From Hell

Hey


All there was for breakfast was three mini boxes of cereal and no milk.


Over New Year I and my partner went to Somerset for a friend's party.


We were looking forward to catching up with friends and seeing in the new year.


Our friend's party was in quite a remote location so we booked a hotel about 10 minutes away.


I do not drink then I could be the taxi service for the night to take me, my partner and our two friends to and from the party.


Our friends booked this local hotel in a nice village but the hotel didn't quite live up to its reviews on Google.


No one was there to welcome us on arrival and it was only when we called the intercom that someone let us in.


They said they had emailed us the access code which was a lie. We never received an email.


Once in the keys were in an envelope on the table with our room number on them.


We found our room and this was when things got worse.


There was no heating except for two portable heaters to switch on.


Breakfast was only 3 miniature cereal boxes but no milk to have them with.

And the room was dirty with some stains on the bed sheets.


Plus, no access to the wifi code. (nightmare)


And to top it off.


When we tried to contact the owners they ignored our phone calls and it went straight to answerphone.


Even when we called the intercom again they ignored that too.


Safe to say the hotel was a disgrace.


Thankfully it was only for one night and it didn't spoil a nice New Year's Eve party to see in 2024.


But we both slept in our clothes.


Two keep warm and protect ourselves from the dirty sheets.


After leaving we learned that the hotel had recently been purchased by a new owner.


And all the good reviews were from old guests.


When you searched for more reviews you saw a host of 1-star ones with a similar experience to us.


I find this amazing how a business can be run so poorly and still be in operation.


I feel we are afraid to voice our opinions here in the UK and are too polite to say anything.


Plus, for the owners to completely ignore us and not do anything to improve our stay I find it unacceptable.


It is a good job for every one of my clients in the Cycle Lean community can get in touch with me and get a response the same day.
