Why I blocked my mum’s Facebook friend this weekend

Ever had one of those moments where something completely random sparks a bigger thought?
That was me this weekend down in Plymouth, visiting family and catching up with my mum.
We were just relaxing at home when she said, “Have you seen this picture of Rod Stewart visiting Phil Collins in the hospital?”
She showed me her phone, and straight away, I said, “Mum, that’s AI.”
She wasn’t convinced. “No, it’s not!” she said.
But I scrolled down a bit further on that person’s profile, and sure enough, every single post was AI-generated.
Perfectly polished, but fake. I pointed it out to her and then helped block the account so she wouldn’t keep seeing that stuff.
It made me think about the world we live in now, where it’s becoming harder and harder to tell what’s real.
Now, don’t get me wrong, AI is an amazing tool. I use it myself to help with my business. It lets me edit videos faster, write content more efficiently, and save money by doing things I’d normally have to outsource.
But here’s the truth: while AI can support what we do, it will never replace human connection.
And that’s exactly what I stand by in my coaching.
When you sign up to work with me, you’re not getting handed off to an automated system or an AI assistant.
You’re working with me, a real person who checks in with you, listens, gives feedback, and helps you through every stage of your journey.
It’s me on the voice notes.
Me on the Zoom calls.
Me reviewing your progress and helping you course-correct.
Because human connection is what drives real change.
In fact, research on longevity has shown that the people who live longest, like many in small Italian communities, do so because of strong social connections.
They’re surrounded by people, supported by people, connected to people.
And that’s what I want to bring into my coaching: connection, accountability, and support that actually makes a difference.
So yes, AI can help make life easier, but it should never replace what makes us human.
