Hi
We are in the midst of the holiday season no matter where or what you celebrate. Here in Australia most people celebrate Christmas, and it is only a few days away.
If you are intending to have a few drinks here are a few tips on ways to prevent a hangover this holiday season.
As you have probably already worked out, certain drinks are worse than others. Fizzy alcoholic drinks tend to increase the absorption of alcohol, thereby increasing your chance of a hangover the next morning.
It is a good idea to limit the amount of beer as well as sugary alcoholic drinks.
Dark alcoholic drinks are best avoided. Basically the darker the alcohol the worse the hangover
So what should you do?
If you are going to drink, it is best to stick to just one type of alcohol all night. Lighter coloured alcohol is better as it contains less congeners. Gin, vodka or rum are best, especially when they are drunk neat and don't forget to drink water and snack throughout the night as well as food slows the absorption of alcohol.
There are plenty of healthy and yum non-alcohol drinks available if you don't drink alcohol, or wish to drink less. One option I am very glad to see the increased popularity of is Kombucha.
No longer is it some weird concoction hippies make but a delicious drink that can now be bought at your local supermarket. Have you tried it? The brands and flavours vary, but some are delicious...and healthy for you!
Holiday season can be a stressful time for many people
...and in fact some people struggle with depression and despondency at this time of year. I am hoping that is not you...but if it is...I want you to know that:
You are loved.
You are worthy...
And to never give up.
There is ALWAYS hope!
I have been there. Life has been hell for me at times in the past. But as much as I wanted to at times, I did not give up. I am so glad that I didn't. Life is great now, and I know that it can be for you too.
Here's a quick video I made about this. Click on the blue link below to watch.

I’ve been through an enormous amount of abuse and trauma throughout my life. There were times I honestly didn’t think I would make it, or even wanted to. But fortunately inside me there was always a very strong spark that kept me going. Fast forward to today and life is great. Know that whatever you are going through, that there is always a way. There is always hope! You can get through it! ❤️❤️ | ||
Wishing you a happy, healthy and joyful time this holiday season!
