Howdy hey ,

If you didn't get to attend the RALLY Innovation Conference, I'm so sorry. We had great times catching up with old friends, making new ones, and hearing about advances in a bunch of industries. Yes, AI was talked about a lot. Maybe just a bit too much for my taste ;) But overall, a lovely time.

If you want to see how fun, check out Tim Hickle's videos. And that includes yours truly reminiscing on an old internet favorite.

Teaching at Ball State is also going well. We're in Week Three of the semester. The kiddos have already completed HubSpot certifications for inbound marketing and are digging into books and online resources. If there's a new resource around digital marketing strategy you think might be good for students to know, I'll happily take 'em!

I posted on LinkedIn this week that I'm looking for a good B2B SaaS whitepaper or customer story to work on this month. It's looking like somebody will claim the whitepaper :) But! I'll gladly take a set of customer stories if you have them handy.

We're heading into Q4 (T-minus two months until the holidays arrive), and it'll be time to buckle down, get it done for this year, and prep for 2025. Just lemme know how I can help all y'all do just that!

Thanks for reading,

Alex

"Education" Isn't Enough: How to Market When Information is Dirt Cheap

By Ryan Law, Ahrefs

image

I like Ryan's research in this article. We've entered a state of information abundance, and education-focused content has become impossibly cheap to manufacture and distribute.

But I feel like this article is late to the game. Purely educational, "how-to" content has been falling out of favor for some time. Instead, we've seen a real groundswell push from content folks around "How I Do It" content, reflecting the "new flavors of information" and "enrich common knowledge with new information and experiences" Ryan discusses.

Maybe it means the "How I Do It" phase is going mainstream? I'd love to hear y'all's thoughts.
