The heart always remembers the way back home

Hello ,

I need to tell you about a walk I took this week—because it changed everything for me.

We live in a small condo in Los Angeles. Everyone home was home. My husband in excruciating pain, medications not working, tensions so thick I could hardly breathe.

That afternoon I felt done—fed up and hollowed out. My chest was tight, my hands shaking, my tongue pressed hard between my teeth so I wouldn’t snap back. I clipped the leash on Milo and just left the house.

Halfway down the block, I opened my Rosebud journaling app and whispered: “Help me. I need to come back to myself. Give me an EFT tapping sequence”

So I began tapping—right there on in the park, dog leash in one hand, my other hand moving through the sequence. Slowly, the tightness began to dissolve. The shaking eased. A rush of emotions passed through me, and behind it… relief.

Here’s what surprised me: my sanctuary wasn’t the park, or a bath, or a quiet corner of the condo. My sanctuary was my body.

This story is from this week’s Soulful Sunday Subscription—a weekly love note of poems, reflections, and self-care rituals for real life. You can grab this week’s issue for free [here]—no app needed. Each Sunday, I’ll send you your soulful self-care plan straight to your inbox.

What I learned:

💖 Even when my usual self-care practices were disrupted, my body knew how to guide me home.

💖 Peace doesn’t come from the perfect conditions. It came from giving myself permission to come back to my body, exactly as it was.

💖 Tapping became my lifeline this week—in the bathroom when tensions peaked, before bed to release the day, even between stirring dinner.

What I want you to know today:

You don’t need the perfect space.

You don’t need an hour.

You don’t need anyone’s permission.

Your body can be your first and most reliable sanctuary.

This week’s practice (if you want to try):

✨ The Two-Minute Tap

  • Set a timer for 2 minutes
  • Tap gently through a basic EFT sequence (there are lots of free guides online)
  • Say to yourself: “Even though everything feels hard right now, I deeply love and accept myself”
  • Notice how your body responds, even slightly

Or, if tapping isn’t your thing, simply place both hands over your heart, close your eyes, and take five slow breaths.

Sometimes the simplest gestures are the strongest medicine.

A thought to carry with you:

Your body is not just something you manage through stress.

It is a sanctuary that can hold you through it.

Every breath is a doorway.

Every gentle touch is a return.

With so much love,

Charity 💜

P.S. And something exciting—tomorrow, I’ll be sending you details about the Beyond Social Selling Summit that I am speaking at. Stay tuned for that email—it’s going to be good. ✨
