#70 – How neutral are your thoughts?

I believed I was over judging but this morning I've realized I'm not.

After I came across the sentence, "I have no neutral thoughts," I started to observe my thoughts. To my dismay, I noticed that every single one of them, even those that I considered banal and unimportant, were charged.

In some, the charge was a mere layer of "like" or "dislike."

With other thoughts, the charge was a strong push or a strong pull, a strong sense of rejection or attraction.

For example, as I walked to the corner store to get two bottles of water, I noticed a truck driving in the opposite direction. Looking at it, I said to myself, "My thought about that truck is not neutral," and I saw that, indeed, there was a slight coating of dislike.

As it drove by me, I realized it was the truck from a nearby clinic, which drives patients to and from the clinic. In that moment, I noticed that my thought about it became more spacious, and I seemed to like it a little more.

Whatever made me like or dislike the truck isn't the point.

What matters is that I caught myself creating a judgment, when I was convinced I was merely looking at a truck with a neutral mind.

What looking at the world with an uncharged mind would feel like?

Love,

Carolina
