#89 – What in your life wants to be seen?
You can't see anything real in daylight; you can only see what you want to see. When you turn the lights off in the night, you see what wants to be seen.
Malidoma Somé
When things don't go as you planned, what do you see? Injustice? Bad luck? Failure?
I spent four years trying to build a coaching and consulting business.
The first year was COVID, so it doesn't really count. Then I had one excellent year, a mediocre one, and a disastrous last one.
What was I not seeing?
I could only see:
- "I'm incompetent at running a business"
- "I must be a really lousy coach"
- "You need to have a gigantic rolodex if you want to make it as a solopreneur"
- "Companies don't want to spend money now"
It was only when I literally turned off the lights of the business that I was able to see that, though I love coaching (and people say I'm effective at it), it wasn’t my path.
If you turned off your rational, logical mind and Ego-driven judgment, what would want to be seen by you?
Love,
Carolina
