#81 – How much longer are you willing to be only half alive?

Did you postpone your dreams because your Ego had other plans?

I did. For years.

I wanted to be a writer. Write was all I wanted to do.

But I listened to the wrong voices in my head – all the Ghosts telling me

• there are already too many writers out there
• and they're better than you
• who'd want to read your stuff anyway?
• and by the way, when's the last time you wrote?

and of course, the classic,

• who do you think you are?

So, I pushed my desire to write aside. Not only was it my desire; it was, I know now, my life's purpose.

I pushed my life's purpose aside because my Ego convinced me that I should do something more profitable. Or more reputable. That writing, because it wouldn't bring me money (which, by the way, how could my Ego know writing wouldn't bring me money?), was just a waste of time.

In January of 2020, a coach asked me the question I'm asking you today and helped me see I was half dead inside. I saw where my sadness, restlessness, and emotional fragility were coming from.

If you're postponing your dreams or avoiding to do things you truly want to do because your Ego's messing up in your brain, I ask you:

How much longer are you willing to be only half alive?
