#268 – How can the "Who am I" question give you peace?

Asking questions is empowering because it frees us from the Ego-driven mental patterns.

Where the Ghost of Need to Prove makes us scrambling for justification of our righteousness, or the Ghost of Isolation has us struggling in silence, asking questions tells these parts of our minds that we want a second opinion.

The question "Who am I?" is particularly powerful because it tells me that I don't buy what what the Ego and the Ghosts have in store for me.

Like, "you need to show them that you know what you're talking about," or "no one can know about your stuff – keep it a secret."

So, let's say it's 3:00am and I'm tossing and turning, all sorts of thoughts about potential outcomes in my son's case swirling in my mind.

When I ask, "Who am I?" I immediately get a sense of detachment from these thoughts.

It's like saying, "I'm not my thoughts," with the added benefit of curiosity, which loosens up the grip of the Ego – because the Ego knows, but curiosity stems from not knowing.

The question is so powerful, that I don't even need to answer it. Just asking it, however many times necessary until my mind relaxes.

What Ego-driven thoughts would you benefit from dropping?

Love,

Carolina
