#270 – What part of you resists what is?
Whatever part that is, it's a waste of time, because what is can't be changed. So, why fight it?
"I'm not fighting anything," you may say.
Oh, no? So why do you complain about everything that you don't like –– the weather, for example?
"I'm just venting."
Huh-huh, and how is that helping?
"It makes me feel better."
Really?
Well, here's the truth: every time you complain about anything that there's nothing you can do to change, you're fueling your Ego and the Ghosts that work with it.
Every time I fall into despair because my son's still in jail, because the prosecutor hasn't found the time to watch the evidence, or because the private investigator contacted the wrong person, I'm telling my Ego, "you're right" and "I need you."
It's like giving it a promotion and a salary raise –– when I thought I wanted to fire it!
But it's true that sometimes I feel like falling into despair and crying and being trapped in fear will soothe me in some way. Like these things will get me a compassionate "shushing" and hair stroking that will make me feel somehow protected.
Aha! Gotcha! That's the lie of the Ego right there!
I don't need protection. I can handle things. I can stroke my own hair and shush my own Self. I can let all the difficult feelings to be inside until they leave because I know that, when they do, I'll be a more experienced person. Stronger.
How will handle what is without resisting it make you stronger?
Love,
Carolina
