#434 – Who wins when you hide from the world?

Hiding is easy because it's what the Ego wants. Hiding makes it feel safe: no eyes prowling on its flaws and deficiencies. In hiding, it believes it's the ultimate authority––so, all good.

But what happens to you when you hide?

You swallow your Ego's lies: that you need protection. That the world's a mean place. That you're a victim.

How do I know?

When I was 12, I got into a stranger’s car because I was lost on my way to a birthday party. Two minutes in, he said: “You know, I’ve always liked little girls like yourself.”

I turned my head. And realized the danger.

I jumped out.

At the party, I was wide-eyed and speechless. Fear and the Ghost of Misplaced Shame told me to hide. No one could ever know.

Last week, I finally told my son—the first person I’d ever spoken it to. That was me leaving hiding.

That was me stripping fear of its power.

And you, what will happen to your fear when you show up to face it?

Love,

Carolina
