#431 – What makes the 'Us vs. Them' illusion seem real?

Positions on issues are easy to take. Problem is, when we don't move, our feet take root on the ground and soon, moving becomes impossible. It's called "attachment."

We then become entrenched in our own ideas, which become "camps." There, we find those who think like us (look, eat, dress, love, pray like us).

Our Ego, scrambling for survival, becomes expert profiler: friend ("us") or foe ("them")?

We're seeing this Ego-driven paranoia in real-time.

After conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated, the division was instantly revealed: some rejoiced (he's tasting his own medicine!); others mourned (they did it!).

Both were in their little Ego-made camps, fearing the opposite camp's dwellers––the fantasy "them."

But then, the killer was caught, and it turned out he belonged to the same camp as Charlie Kirk. How could this be? The young man must've been unhinged.

No––it's simpler. When your whole life is based on division and fear of the "other," this becomes your operating mode. Eventually, your Ego will see your very brother as one of "them."

What can you do today to weaken your Ego's harangue of fear, blame, and hatred?

Love,

Carolina
