#294 – What has fear cost you so far?
My first paid job (after babysitting) was writing for a music magazine. Yet, I didn't go to journalism school.
I also loved film and storytelling; I dreamed of making films (writing and directing them). Yet, I didn't go to film school.
As an obsessive listener, I thought about going into music production or sound design for movies. Yet, when an opportunity came to work at a top-tier music studio in Madrid, I said no.
Having had my clothes tailor-made by my grandmother Abuela Maria Luisa all my life, I understood fabrics, textures, cuts. Yet, when two veteran fashion designers who worked for a prominent film studio invited me to join them, I declined.
Being a creative-fiction enthusiast and a writer at heart (if closeted), I enrolled in Spanish Philology in college. Yet when it was time to choose the concentration, I went into Linguistics instead of Literature.
Why? What made me undermine all my passions in this consistent yet extremely effective way?
Fear.
When did you understand that fear didn't deserve your obedience?
Love,
Carolina
