#272 – What makes reframing so powerful?

This morning, while cleaning up after breakfast, the Spanish saying, "you start a circus and the little people grow on you" came to mind. I was thinking of the apparent "bad luck" streak I'm experiencing.

  • I get a writing job "tutoring" an AI model, and the model learns so fast that work myself out of the job in one week.

  • I interview for a Communication position at a company that works with retailers, and a global trade war is unleashed, forcing the company to put the position on hold.

  • The other position I was waiting for, for the same company, will also be affected by the new tariffs, so most likely won't happen either.

But suddenly, as I turned my double-glass coffee cup upside down to put it on the dish rack, I thought, "what if this is a good thing?"

Exactly –– what if? Maybe these turns of events are guiding posts for me.

How could reframe my thinking, to turn it upside down?

I went from, "I can't believe how unlucky I am!" to "I'm grateful that this happened, because this means neither of these was the right job for me."

And then I added, "I'm excited to see what opportunities are waiting for me out there!"

In a matter of seconds, my mind went from feeling crushed under the Ego's 10,000-pound weight, to my True Self's wringing its hands in anticipation of the new experiences it's going to find.

What experiences will you reframe so you can go from crushed to excited?

Love,

Carolina
