#30–What makes the party-pooper in my head so appealing?
In the early morning, at the gym, I'm full of ideas. I'm going to contact this person, and I'll create a list, and I'll write a post, and I'll do this, and I'll do that...
But then, at some point, the Ghost of Idea Deflection (aka, the party-pooper in my head) sneaks in. It's quiet at first, just observing.
It lets me have a moment for my High Dream.
Until it takes the front stage.
- "It's never gonna work."
- "No one will want it."
- "It's too difficult."
- "People don't care."
- "Why bother, anyway?"
- "You'll never make money."
- "You'll look stupid."
- "You can never change."
Earlier this evening, walking on the South Pointe Pier in South Beach, my hair twisted by the strong winds, I noticed how comforting it was to have my High Dream crushed by the party-pooper. How familiar.
It felt good to feel sad and desperate.
It felt safe.
When do you choose safety over growth?
Love,
Carolina
