What's your only responsibility in the world?

#328 – What's your only responsibility in the world?

No matter how much society or your family might have tried to guilt-trip you into believing otherwise, your only responsibility in the world is you. Which includes your:

  • Actions
  • Words
  • Thoughts
  • Feelings
  • Beliefs
  • Intentions
  • Behavior

It doesn't include:

  • How other people perceive you
  • What others think of you
  • How you make them feel
  • The impact you have on someone
  • Other people's feelings (including their disappointment in, or disapproval of you)
  • Other people's victimhood mentality

So, for example, you hurt someone's body when you were texting while driving? You're responsible because you didn't take proper care of your actions.

Now, you hurt someone's feelings when you didn't go to their dinner party because you had other plans? Not your responsibility.

Once you understand that you are responsible for and only for your feelings, it follows that people make themselves feel however they feel based on their own experiences and expectations.

They created their feelings; the people they placed their expectations on didn't––even if that's you. That's why you're never responsible for how people feel about you.

And what if you hurt someone by not going to their dinner party because you wanted their dinner party to flop? Then yes, you're responsible because you didn't take proper care of your intentions.

What responsibilities do you need to drop immediately, to take one more step in your growth?

Love,

Carolina
