#455 – What if the only way through is gratitude?

Feelings of injustice always come from the Ego. It wants you to clench your fists and reject reality.

That was me these past few days. I wanted to take my son’s case public, to seek legal assistance — someone who could help us “right this wrong.”

But yesterday, a friend reminded me that every humongous struggle brings with it humongous growth.

And so I see it now: the only way through is gratitude.

Instead of blaming the justice system, the police, or the alleged victim––be grateful. We’ll be greater beings as a result.

Instead of fearing my son’s uncertain future––be grateful. No matter how bleak things look now, this will end someday, and we’ll be stronger and more resilient for it.

Instead of judging my son’s choices––be grateful. He’s been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to improve his decision-making. This will help me let go of control, and help him grow into independence.

What opens up when you choose gratitude over blame?

Love,

Carolina
