OFFER THAT GUY

A relatively newcomer to the scene, CFC200 receiver, Caeleb Schlachter out of Kelowna, B.C, is taking his talents out east to join the Clarkson Football North squad in Ontario. This 6'3" 195lbs athlete is one who we think will heat up over the next couple of months. A bit of a tweener, he runs fantastic routes, has sweet hands, and a frame that could totally fill out. We think he could be the next Russell Dixon. Will this former Kelowna Owl swoop in and steal the show? Recruiters get your popcorn now!

Our take:

  • Physically impressive athlete and every bit of 6'3" and 195lbs
  • Ran extremely well at the first round CFC Prospect Game Tryout and Showcases in B.C.
  • Lined up inside, outside, even at h-back
  • Can get open down the seam and can also carry the ball in the backfield

TOP PROSPECTS of the week

Class 2021 DB Samir Nayfeh (Meadowvale - Mississauga, ON)

"I'm really looking forward to just doing my best and I know all my teammates will play their best football if the season resumes because everyone's been working hard to get ahead of the competition we will have. We are tired of under performing in the last two seasons which is our motivation to improve our game and ball out next season."

Class 2023 DB Strachan Liberman (Notre Dame - Vancouver, B.C.)

"Being a leader on the team, I take it upon myself to hold my teammates accountable. It is tough because everyone has their own schedule and follow their own rules during the pandemic. That being said, I know some of my teammates have attended our zoom meetings and are training on their own. I support them to continue doing that and encourage those who are not."

Class 2022 REC Carter Kettyle (St. Joseph - Grovedale, AB)

"The first practice. Being able to see everyone again is going to be awesome as well as the whole coaching staff. I am also excited to see how certain people have grown mentally and physically and who took this as a break and didn't work out or anything."

CFC150 Class 2022 LB Sonny Chantler (W.F. Herman - Windsor, ON)

"I text my teammates from time to time to see what they've been up to, how there workouts are coming and if they're trying to get together to get some work in at a field or in the gym. A lot of the kids I play with are cut from the same cloth as me and they all want to push themselves to be great and make the people around them better so I know I can count on them to put the work in right now."

SOUTH OF THE BORDER HEADLINES

  • CFC100 Class 2021 (and apparently big-time scholar) Luke Foster announced his commitment to Yale this past week. The 6’4”, 245lbs tight end held 16 offers, including Rutgers, Buffalo, and Eastern Michigan, prior to making his decision on the Ivy League school. Going to what could be seen as the most academically prestigious school in the world, even if his pro football career doesn’t work out, expect for him to be making tons of money in his adulthood.

  • The Mid-American Conference and Mountain West conference have become the first two FBS conferences to postpone their season to the spring of 2021. Many Canadians play in these conferences and will therefore be impacted, but it’s very likely that the moving of the fall seasons by these conferences are just the first dominoes to fall, and other conferences will follow suit.

  • CFC100 Class 2022 #2 ranked Edwin Wilson Tara Kolenge picked up offer #11 this week from South Carolina. The 6’3”, 225lbs linebacker made the move down south for his 2020 season and will be attending a school in Florida. He has also recently been ranked a 4-star recruit by ESPN, in addition to reportedly garnering interest from Notre Dame, from which standout receiver Chase Claypool just moved onto the NFL.

RECRUITING TIP

Most popular questions from recruits this week?

We don't know if you'll have a high school football season this year, but don't let that slow down your preparation. There's plenty of things you can do away from the field to get ahead in the recruiting game, so now is the perfect time to focus your energy in that direction.

BOTTOM LINE:

Even if you don't have a high school football season, do not give up on your recruiting journey! Be flexible and prepare accordingly.

EVENTS by CFC

The Fox 40 Prospect Challenge showcase and CFC100 combine was a success this last weekend in Ontario. Keyan Johnson, Jesulayomi Ojutalayo, JacobTessier, and Andrew Kozbor stole the show with impressive sub 4.7 40s laser time as well as recording over 9 feet in the broad jump...in fact, all their testing scores were noteworthy. These kids came to play and we noticed!

Other standouts were Gavin Owen who had a 10'2" broad jump, and Maximus Keller who showed his athleticism in the pro-agility with 4.37 in both directions.

There were many other standouts that were sent to the CFC scouting bureau and will be featured in an upcoming article on canadafootballchat.com. You want to see who's been putting in the work? You won't want to miss this one.
