Hey Calm & Colorful Mama!!

Everyone in my line of work always emphasizes this:

"Putting yourself first is crucial."

But let's break the mold today and dive into something different—my second best advice:

"Embrace self-compassion, starting with mindful breathing."

Now, here's a bit more depth to clarify what I mean:

Self-compassion isn't just about putting yourself first—it's about treating yourself with kindness, understanding, and acceptance, especially in difficult times. It involves acknowledging your own struggles and being gentle with yourself instead of being overly critical or harsh.

Here's how to integrate breathwork into your self-compassion journey:

  1. Mindful Breathing: Take moments throughout your day to focus on your breath. Inhale deeply, feeling your lungs expand, then exhale slowly, releasing tension and negative thoughts. This practice anchors you in the present, fostering self-awareness and compassion.
  2. Affirmative Breathing: Combine breathwork with affirmations. Inhale self-kindness and exhale self-criticism. For instance, breathe in "I am worthy of compassion," and exhale "I release self-judgment."

So why is this blend important?

  1. Self-compassion nurtures resilience and emotional well-being. When paired with mindful breathing, it becomes a powerful tool to navigate tough moments, reduce stress, and bounce back from setbacks effectively.
  2. It fosters a healthier relationship with yourself, promoting better mental health, improved self-esteem, and a greater sense of inner peace. Integrating breathwork amplifies these benefits, grounding you in moments of self-reflection and kindness.

And that, my friend, will make all the difference in how you navigate the ups and downs of life as a mama.

Okay, that’s my second biggest tip for you. Hope it helps in prioritizing self-compassion with the added touch of mindful breathing.

With love & gratitude,

Jessica Brittani
