💖From my Calm & Colorful Mama heart to yours

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how often regulation starts before anything even happens.

Before the mess. Before the tears. Before the “no.”

It starts in the quiet decision to choose calm before the storm rolls in.

Tool: “Grounding 5-4-3-2-1”

A sensory-based tool to come back to the present moment.

✨ Name 5 things you see

✨ 4 things you can touch

✨ 3 things you hear

✨ 2 things you smell

✨ 1 thing you taste or are grateful for

Great for emotional overwhelm—for both mamas and littles.

Activity: Gratitude Paper Chain

Turn simple moments into something visual, playful, and deeply connecting.

You’ll need:

  • Strips of colorful paper
  • A marker or crayon

✨ Each day, you and your little one write one thing you’re grateful for.

✨ Loop the strip and staple/tape into a growing chain.

✨ Hang it in a doorway, above a bed, or near your calm corner.

These tiny moments become their favorite memories. 🌈

Featured Resource: The I Feel Audio Series

Created especially for mamas (and designed to use with your littles), the I Feel Audio Series helps your family regulate through real emotions, together.

Each short track supports one specific feeling—like “I Feel Anxious,” “I Feel Sad,” or “I Feel Safe”—so you can pause, breathe, and reconnect through whatever’s coming up.

Support that helps you reset—together.

🌟 This month’s shoutout:

We’re celebrating @mamamode.app — a beautifully designed app for mindful motherhood, offering tools, meditations, and support just for mamas. It’s one of our favorite resources for staying anchored in those everyday moments. 💛

This week, we’re trying something new and I’m so excited about it, I wanted to share it with you too.

It’s called “3 Before We Go.”

Before leaving the house, whether it’s a quick grocery run or a long travel day, we pause and check off three simple things:

✨ One breath (together, even just 5 seconds)

✨ One item that brings comfort (a stone, a plush, a snack)

✨ One moment of eye contact or hug

The goal? To create a little pocket of calm before the transition begins.

I have a feeling this might become one of our favorite rhythms and I’d love to know if you try it, too. Hit reply and let me know.

Because calm doesn’t come from the destination.

It comes from how we begin. 💛

Let’s uplift each other, one small biz at a time. 💛

🫶 You are allowed to take up space.

You are allowed to rest.

You are enough.

And if no one has told you today—thank you for doing this work. It matters.

You matter.

With breath & brightness,

Jessica Brittani
