People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

Dear friend,

This poem has been my guiding force since I first came across it. It seemed so simple and obvious. Like why should your good be watered down because of a few people’s bad behaviors?

Anyway, something happened this weekend to make me further resolved to continue to do good anyway. I belong to the CWO - Catholic Women’s Organization in my parish. And as I usually do wherever I find myself, I’ve poured myself into the group- serving, helping where and when I can. All these I thought I was doing in the background. Till God, the rewarder of all, showed me out yesterday.

As we celebrated the Catholic version of Mothering Sunday yesterday, I was called out to receive an award for my service. In the words of the citation “She has a strong repertoire of knowledge which she shares so freely at our meetings.”

Oh wow! Me that I just love to teach. Imagine being awarded for that!

If I had stopped the first time I got a snide remark, or when I was tired, would I be getting rewarded today? Awards that go to older, more accomplished women, found its way to me at the age of 40, and I’m not even a serving member of the Executive

I’m basking in my joy. I just want to encourage you that you too can make a difference wherever you are. you are the light of the world. Go on and SHINE!
