Writing and Goals

Travel the world.

We all have goals. Mine has always been to be debt free and travel. Obviously lately the travel part hasn't been possible. But it has meant I haven't had any excuse not to double down on saving money. And I'm getting there. The current hope is by 2024 I will be a full time author. When that happens you can bet your teeth I'm going to be traveling and writing from lots of places.

I love AirBnB and I've been creating a daydream list of neat places to go to. Most aren't that expensive and if I really get my butt in gear affording two weeks every other month (with plane fare of course) should be very possible. And oh the places I want to go. Here is a short list: Split (Croatia), Tulbag (South Africa), Dublin (Ireland), Merica (Spain), Riamble (Mauritius), St. Petersburg (Russia). I want to see and visit places, then write stories as to how magic changed those areas, those cultures. I'm trying. Really.

That being said - I ran into an editing issue with FanFiction, so I'm hoping to get it up soonish and I'm working on a box set for Books 1-3 for Twisted Luck.

The Fan Group for Twisted Luck ticking along. So if you are on Facebook check it out here. I'll be focusing on it more as I go forward, but I'll put out world building aspects there as well as snippets and things I cut out.

This week I have something different for you. A friend of mine writes post-noir mysteries and has just put them in Kindle Unlimited. If you'd like to try something different take a look at the Clarke Lantham series.

Convinced time is running out, her mother turns to disgraced-cop-turned-PI Clarke Lantham.

Tailed by mercenaries, framed for murder, and forced into hiding, Lantham finds himself drawn ever-deeper into a surreal web of scandal and power and secrets that threatens to upend the normal rules of reality don’t seem to apply–all for the sake of a girl whose uncanny face haunts him every time he closes his eyes.

Here is your microstory for the week. I need to get back to formatting.

Guard

Flakes of skin broke loose and flew away. The tattered cloak had developed holes and provided food for generations of moths. The armor rusted and tarnished, looking as old as it was. Yet the knight stood there. Hands wrapped around the sword entrusted into service of the Order so many suns ago. The vow taken more seriously than even breath. That had stopped long ago, yet the knight stood.

But it had been so long. A sense of anticipation rattled every bone and tendon as a new sound entered the chamber. The sound of a breath. Hands tighten on the hilt in anticipation. The sound of stone sliding over stone, grating as mechanics not used during the knight's vigil filled the vaulted stone room.

Tendons worn tight as leather tensed, ready to ensure the finder worthy of the Orders final gift to the world. The knight waited to see who seek succor. A woman, belly swollen with child, another grasping her hand, squeezed into the room, stopping short as her red rimmed eyes caught sight of the knight. Her breathing quickened, and the knight waited.

"A daughter of Alaris, begs sanctuary," her voice filled the cavern with words that were part of a tale for children. The sentence was a broken sob, filled with emotions the knight no longer recognized. She placed a flower on the small pedestal before the knight. Slowly, skin cracking, the knight nodded.

She fled past, child in tow and the knight stood again, still waiting.

I hope you liked! My to do list is never ending, and I'd better get to it.
