Confessions and Questions

I want your input.

Confession time - I'm at the last part of Drafted Luck. Like I need to write the epilogue. It should have been done a week ago, but ugh this novel. You will hopefully see it late summer if I can get everything done on it. I"m waiting for the cover so maybe by next newsletter it will be ready for a reveal.

But I'm faced with a dilemma - what stories do you want to see from me? I have a portal fantasy that I really want to work on. I have so many stories in the Ternion universe that I can write. I need to make a reader magnet. I'm not sure about my short stories and if they are worth the time.

But here is the question - do you want me start a Patreon? If so, what would you like to see there? The microshorts? Free short stories? Chapters in progress (horribly unedited)? Something else? Let me know either via email or you can always hit me up on Facebook. Hmm... I could do a poll there. Okay, I'll do that too.

Otherwise I need to get Drafted Luck edited and off to betas!

While you are waiting mark your calendar for July 24th for my book party. I will be there about 2, but Jamie Davis, DH Dunn, and Gregory Little will all be joining me.

Check it out - here.

And don't forget the Solstice anthology. If you like my stories, but I can't write fast enough to keep you happy, give some of these other authors a try. You might find a new favorite.

Here is your microstory for the week. Enjoy the story and let me know what else you want to see in these newsletters. Don't be afraid to contact me and let me know what you are looking forward to this summer.

Interest

Tzarick remained immobile, continuing his impression of a bauble. He spent most of his time in the state his people called stasis. If certain things happened, fire, screams, lots of people handling him, he brought his consciousness back and verified there was nothing interesting enough for him to emerge.

This time he'd found something. Tzarick couldn't remember when he'd been so fascinated by a weak, easily killed human.

"I hate this house, I hate my family. I hate this life."

A female child beat on a desk with the staff that held the physical representation of his body. Casting his awareness around he discovered the room was in shreds, broken vases, glasswear, furniture. But what attracted him was the dark rage laced with powerful magic.

A creak of the floor and the child set the staff down and raced to sit on the chair at the far end of the room, every trace of anger gone from her countenance. She sat still and waited.

The door opened and a man loomed. He surveyed the room and sneered at the girl. "Look at you. Useless. I should just sell you to the flesh market. You have no other worth."

Tzarick became. He pulled himself out of the ether and into the room. Both humans stared at him, a puddle of urine forming under the man.

"You interest me. I will take you and train you. Are you willing?"

The child shot a glare at the quivering human. "Yes."

"It is done."

I hope you liked! I have so much to do this week and not enough time and energy.
