So, I created the newsletter two weeks ago.
And I never scheduled it to send. I am so very sorry. Here I thought I was all on top of stuff, and no, I was not. All I can do is apologize and give you free things.
As you probably know, maybe, hopefully, my new series Noble's Luck is launching Feb 3rd. Are you counting the days? I know I am? Have you read Spark? What did you think?
Spark - are you the fire or the tinder?
Here is some fun stuff about all the work I did in this series:
- Created clothes for Lady Luck.
- Laid out floor plans
- Learned a lot about looms and fabric
- Researched cesspools and the Great Stench in London.
I'm gearing up to push this series, so expect a lot of teasers in the future on Facebook and my other social media channels, as well as here. I can't wait for you to experience this journey. I'm giving you, my newsletter readers a special opportunity to get the books directly from me.

Weekly Micro Story
Under My Protection
The day I asked St'alik if I could be his companion was far in the past. What we had forgotten or maybe not, was you shared your companions life span. The way we used to ask was pulling our companions with us into our life, but as I offered, I was pulled into his life span. It was why most people that summoned a dragon died. Who wanted a mortal life span? Only one whose span was yet shorter than a mortal.
A hundred years had passed in learning and exploration. Our names were legend, but I rarely talked to the people living below. The boy I had been still remembered the fear and anger when I cam back into town with St'alik trailing behind me. Now I know he found it all amusing, but then I was VERY serious. They chased us out. So I ran, hid, and grew. St'alik had been unsure how to care for a child, but children in villages were rather self-sufficient and as necessity required it, I became more.
Now, I was a mage with a dragon who owned my heart and soul as surely as the sun rose in the sky. But I was also the last line of defense my small village had. Though they chased me out with their own fear, over the years I had become their legend, their boogeyman. And now their last hope.
~You can let them die. They are few and were unkind to you.~ St'alik's voice rumbled in my mind and I leaned back against him looking at the town far below. Then the march of the army a day away.
"Even the youngest back then is old now. Should I hold a grudge until even I can no longer remember?"
~I would,~ he replied, heat wafting from his mouth.
I laughed. "You remember when the first timber was cut there."
~Exactly. I still miss my quiet.~
I laughed and pushed away from him. "No. That was long ago and I will not let innocents die because as a child they feared the dragon that walked behind me. In all honestly they were right to fear you."
~Of course they were. I am no simple mortal.~ His voice was unaffected as what he said was fact.
"And neither am I. So let's prove exactly why you don't mess with this village."
~Gladly. They are scaring away the deer.~
I jumped up on St'aliks back and he pushed off into the air, and we headed toward the army that had made the poor decision to target this little village. At least it would be diverting.
