Until my mother comes home.

Rehab was supposed to be a vacation, time for me to relax knowing someone else was watching her. Yeah, no. so far I've had 4 panicked phone calls. One CT scan because the aide moved her so fast/hard she hit the headboard and had to get examined, and endless questions as to why it takes an hour to get a cup of hot water - being downstairs would be easier.

That being said, she is actually doing better. Which helps. All in all I do not recommend fracturing your pelvis - no bueno. But it means I'm frazzled and distracted. HOWEVER - my betas really enjoyed Faded Luck. I have a few story issues to fix, but they aren't too bad.

I need to edit so still another few weeks out. But I'm going to start plotting the next book this week, I think it is going to be Balanced Luck. We'll see how it works out. But first I have 3 short stories to finish and get submitted and I'm taking a vacation. A real vacation. Maybe. Laughs, already I'm planning the writing I'm going to do. But I will also read and relax, promise.

I have plants growing like crazy and next weekend I should be able to get stuff out of the green house and into the ground. Let me know if you'd like me to include pictures next week of all the garden stuff. I mean I'd rather send pics of Tirsane, Baneyarl, and others, but they are extremely camera shy. That is it for me. I'm off to see mom at the rehab for Mother's Day (we got her a chicken purse) and then off on vacation. Enjoy!

Fear Killer

Oculus 23 floated in space outside the wormhole to the Alpha Centauri system. A huge station, it housed over ten thousand people and had room for a thousand ships to dock. It was busy and populous and there was almost no privacy.

So why wasn't there anyone around now when he needed help?

Peter raced down the empty corridors in the depths of the station. There should be people here, maintenance, delivery, hell even the station security would be welcome right now. The clank, clank, clank, of his pursuers echoes in the empty corridor. Ahead was a freight lift, but he wasn't authorized so his chip wouldn't let him use it. He hit the button anyhow, then kept running.

Why were they chasing him?

His heart pounded in his chest as he pushed himself harder and harder.

What did they want?

The hall he was in dead ended. He spun, the clanking getting closer. He had to get our. Frantic, Peter clawed at the metal, his fingers bleeding breaking.

"No!"

"Dammit, Jim. We lost another." Dr. Johnson stared at the patient in her bed, his heart had just ruptured.

Jim Tokel rubbed his shaved skull and stared at the dead young man. "This makes what five? Six? None of them active drug users."

"Seven. The first was a known drug user, though as far as I can tell they were all legal drugs. Recreational only. The others have no record of using. I can't even find stim sticks on their station purchase records." Katie Johnson growled as she stared at the dead man."

"I really hate puzzles. And now I have to find a murderer. Thanks so much." He glared at Katie.

She snorted. "I have zero sympathy. Find out who is killing people, before I kill them."
