The Germans have landed!
Or at least the German translations have. You read that right. The Twisted Luck novels have been translated into German and is available everywhere on Amazon. I'm pretty excited though trying to figure out how to market that is a bit more challenging.
Other than that the only big news I have is Faded Luck is done! At least the rough draft is. I have about 15 chapters left to edit. I need to get the blurbs on the chapters and then get it to the betas. It is shorter than I expected at 110k, but I suspect on my final pass I may need to add some more words. We will see. As a comparison Drafted Luck went live at 109,871. It will be interesting to see what the final word count is.
But this also means I have the cover. Here is your peek of the cover, the first time I've shared it with anyone. I'll post it on Facebook later this week. But for now I present to you - Faded Luck.
I'm excited about this cover, though Carelian says he should be in front and Cori in back. Oh well. Can't please everyone.
It is back to editing and getting ready for me, but I hope this made your day. Here are some books in case you need something to read while you wait.
Death and the Crone is a fascinating book. I read it about a year ago and it is one of those that makes you think, even if it is fantasy. What is love?
Telepathy, space, pirates, governmental conspiracies - this series has it all. If you were looking for something that has flavors of DS9 and Bablyon 5, this might be what you were looking for. Take a look at Stratton which is book 6, but the beginning of the series is available for .99
Here is your weekly short, I need to write more of these.
Healing
Sylvester stared up at the moon, then the mirror. Surely two moons would be enough. The night air was quiet, and there had been no movement from humans for hours. It was time.
With a deep breath in, he let out his song. A caterwaul that would have earned him thrown shoes and shouts, but for this song there was only the moons to hear his plea.
The long warble of his music took form and shape and there, in a house where love had died by inches and joy had been replaced by grief, a peace filled it.
The reflected moon brightened more than its true image and then began to glow.
"It has been long since the children of the moon called. What drives you to this plea?"
The voice was cool and distant, not warm like the humans he had known, or fuzzy like the mother he barely remembered. But still it had come to his plea.
"I ask for healing for the people that live here."
"Are they worthy?"
"Are any of us? It takes only love to create worth. And I love them. They have treated me well and their pain is so sharp it slices like a claw across their hearts. Yet still they have loved."
"You only get one request, are you sure you want to use it on them?" The voice didn't care, but Sylvester knew his heart.
"I am old and will die in a year or two. They have time to learn to love again. Let them heal."
"Little cat, you give much." A whisper of a breeze drifted across his whiskers. "I give both."
Energy washed through him, his shoulders quit aching, and the urge to run in the moon filled sky rose up like it hadn't for years. Inside the soft shuddering breaths from someone crying even in their sleep, faded and sank into deep rhythms.
"I will look for you on the other side, but not for a while. Go back to your humans." The voice faded as clouds covered the moon.
Sylvester padded back through the house and jumped up on the bed. In sleep they were holding each other, the first time in a while. He nestled at the foot of the bed and began to purr. The loss of a kit always hurt, but maybe now they would begin to heal.
I'm back to work. Have fun!
