Dragoncon Approaches
Aug 25, 2024 4:40 pm
Well I want to know at least.
I am working on packing boxes of books to sell right now. I have new ones, plus some awesome ribbons. I have seven panels and a signing this year. Check out my schedule! Basically if you can't find me there, during the day I'll be at the booth in the dealers hall. Second floor 2125.
I have so much going on it is insane. But.. that Victorian trilogy - OMG I just realized something else and I'm trying not to squeal. AND that realization will get you a prequel story all about an important character. The series is called Nobles Luck and LOOK! Here is the book cover for Lady, which will be book 1.
So yeah, it is getting there. Right now my goal is the end of October (it is that complicated) and hopefully a kickstarter in November for it.
Speaking of kickstarters - I'm thinking of doing a special collectors edition hardback book of My Luck. It would be all special and pretty with designs on edges, foil on the cover, even a dust jacket. You know like FANCY!
Is this something you would be interested in? I would be as jaw dropping as I could make it. Let me know if you would be willing to back a Kickstarter and get a book like that for My Luck.
My readers enjoyed the cozy mystery - but I need about three of them and to make some decisions. Have I mentioned that decisions are stressful? I swear adulting should come with warning signs! But I'm getting excited about the stories I'm working on and hopefully I'll be able to share them soon.
But speaking of that, Puppetmaster is available in audio! If you want to list to this in Audio grab it now from my store!
Book Recommendations!
Obviously this is a Kickstarter week because you've got to check out this game. Now I played it in Vegas last year and it was a lot of fun. Now it is available for you to back and get to play it yourself. Check out Outflanked!
It is a game of trying to out strageticize ( It's a word, I said so) other players.Basically you want to block them from moving. It's fast and fun. So if you enjoy card games, you should try this out.
But I also have books! Cause we know we need more books added to our TBR pile. Heir: Home World is on sale for .99 or available on Kindle Unlimited. Caught between war and dreams of the future Jezekiah has to find a way to build his own life without betraying his own sense of honor or dying.
Then we have Dead Hungry (it's not a zombie novel, swear) a free novella with one woman tracking down murders, but are the killers vampires or something worse? Grab it now, free from the author.
Don't forget to check out Fantasy Fever! These are authors offering their books to you for a short time, so grab them while you can! Be sure to share with your friends who need some extra excitement in their life. We all know money is tight so this is a great way to find new authors and enrich your life.
Weekly Micro Story
Peace
The spell was called Peace. Only one person in each generation was taught it, and they taught it to one person. Occasionally you might have three or four people alive that knew the spell. But no one remembered the last time it was used and only the king and the Royal Advisor knew who the mages were that knew the spell. It had never been used in living memory.
Until now.
Ocai stood on the edge of the cliff looking down at the valley where the invading army lay. They had stopped across the kingdom of Melior with overpowering might. War machines, huge behemoths their generals rode, war mages that laughed at the slaughter, and soldiers that out numbered all the livestock put together. They had killed villages, towns, slaughtered man, women, and children, roasted the animals and left nothing but ash and tears in their wake.
Now they approached the castle where the remaining populace had fled to, hiding behind thick walls that would crumble if the weapons of war the army dragged with them reached it.
Unless Ocai cast Peace.
"Are you sure?" The question was a whisper, but the Royal Advisor, the King, the Crown Prince all heard it.
"We see no other option," the king said, his voice just as quiet, looking out at the forces arrayed against them. "We have begged for parlay, for peace, to discuss their demands, and they only kill all we have sent. The damage they have done will take decades to repair as it is. Peace is the only answer."
"There is a reason the only way to the castle is through wide valleys. All the people know what we do here today." There was no joy in the Royal Advisor's voice, only deep regret. They all looked like they had aged a decade in the last three months. The prince was the only one confused, but he said nothing just watching. He was to serve as witness to Peace.
""As you say." Ocai nodded, then turned and faced the valley. The words were simple, the magic was not. "Hear my call. I call for Peace that Melior might survive." Magic rushed out of Ocai's body, twisting and turning, burning up life as it raced up into the sky, pulling the sun into it like flames gathering kindling. The world darkened as the light from the being that formed from magic, from sun, from despair hovered in the sky.
"Let there be peace," Ocai said dropping to knees now achy and sore, skin wrinkled and worn where once there had been youth.
PEACE
The scream of that word was like thunder and the bird of flame turn and rushed down the valley. The army had no chance as they burned to ash as the creature neared. Mage, soldier, general, behemoth, horse, weapon, armor, tents, that all crumbled to ash as the creature swept through. When it reached the other side, leaving only a fine dust in it's wake, it exploded into light brighter than the sun and was gone.
Ocai looked up into the pale faces of the three. "There is peace." The words were whispered as the deaths of thousands were laid at the once young mage's feet.
