The constant battle

between hermit and social.

I'll be honest, I choose hermit the majority of the time. I have books to read, books to write, computer games, iPhone games, puzzles, a house to clean/organize, or my hair to wash. Really, I'm good curled up in my own little world. But occasionally I peek my head out and hang with friends and I'm always super glad I did (I have the best friends) and very glad to get back to my own little world. I probably need to get out more, because I'll tell you I can go weeks leaving the house only to go grocery shopping. Which is probably bad. Especially as I STILL have outdoor work I need to do.

Oh well. On the bright side I have my Shopify store almost completely done and next week the entire Twisted Luck series will be wide everywhere. I'm working on getting a professional landing page and editing my Mage Hunter book. So I am definitely busy, but I still feel like I'm not working hard enough. I swear somehow I feel like I'm being lazy if I'm not working 20 hours a day. It is ridiculous.

Hopefully I'll have new stories out for you soon and remember to share all this with friends and family that aren't addicted to me yet - I'm a benevolent ruler, I promise.

Weekly Micro Story

Misdirection

Max walked through the showroom, looking at the latests in androids on their pedestals. They were all the frames, the form so you could see joints, connections, where the activate and shut off buttons were.

"See anything you like? Remember we add the flesh after purchase. It can be any style, color, or texture you desire. The hottest rage right now is snake skin. Would you like to see some samples?" The voice of the salesdroid at his elbow startled him. They really needed to put bells on them.

"Ah, no. Can I get one without the skin?" Max turned to look at the droid, then wondered why he bothered. They had no emotional reactions, so he already knew what the answer would be.

"Of course. But it does not really change the price, if that was your concern. Only the exotics like fur or ultra silk are an extra charge." The sales driod kept the same smile on its face as it talked. You couldn't really call a droid male or female, regardless of their body shape. They weren't real.

Which made his life easier.

"I'll take two of your cheapest models please. With only a basic command structure.

"Of course, sir. Shall I have them delivered?"

"I am driving, they can come with me."

Ten minutes later two female body androids were in the back seat of his car. An hour later they were high in the mountains and they were digging a large hole while he watched. "Eight feet deep and four feet wide." Even with their strength it was getting dark before they finished. He then placed the bodies of the two women he had killed last night at the bottom. "Put three feet of dirt back in it." They did so. "Now it in and lay down on top of them." They did so without comment. "Deactivate, alpha-three-two-xray." The soft whine of their electronics ceased.

Max sighed, grabbed the shovel and started covering them up. Even if anyone found them, they'd never dig past them. After all, he had done this dozens of times already and none of his victims, human or machine had ever been found. And there was no crime in disposing of an android.

Wow my mind goes oddly dark some times. Maybe I should write horror. Sigh.
